What's new in DumpCat 1.9.0

DumpCat keeps itself up to date: turn on automatic installs and new signed versions arrive over the air, in the hours you choose — the newest fixes and features without rebuilding or downloading anything.

Updates

  • Install new versions automatically (Settings → Updates, off by default): between the hours you pick (02:00–05:00 by default, in the time zone of the Settings page), DumpCat looks for a new version at least once an hour and installs it the way Install does — verify the download, wait for running backups and restores, back up its own database, restart, and roll back by itself if the new version does not start. Only releases signed with a trusted key are installed this way (the official packages always carry the project's key); tasks still running at the end of the hours postpone the update to the next day.
  • System → Updates shows whether automatic installs are on and when the next version goes in.
  • Updates reach your notification channels: those that send failures hear about an automatic update that could not be installed or was rolled back, those that send successes about every update and rollback. The audit log records automatic installs as automatic update.
